Hebrews Study

Hebrews Bible study

Starting in late August, Pastor Rod will lead a live, online Bible study in the book of Hebrews. Through this study we will see how Hebrews helps us persevere through suffering by faith. A registration link will be posted soon.

What to expect?

We will use Microsoft Teams to meet together online where we will be able to use our computer/tables video cameras to see and hear everyone as we study together.

Through this study our faith will be strengthened as the Holy Spirit works the Word into our lives.

When will it start?

We expect to start in late August. More info will be coming soon.

How can I prepare?

Being your preparation by reading through the 13 chapters of Hebrews. As you read, think about what questions are raised for you and jot them down.

Over the next few weeks Pastor Rod will also post a couple of videos to provide some background that will setup our study.

Why Hebrews?

The main theme of Hebrews is perseverance through suffering by faith. Hebrews encourages us through suffering by showing us that Jesus endured suffering for us and we can follow him. We will not endure because he sets an example but because we live by faith and hold on to the promise of the Gospel. Hebrews 2:5-9 captures the summary theme well:

For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. It has been testified somewhere,

“What is man that thou art mindful of him,

or the son of man, that thou carest for him?

Thou didst make him for a little while lower than the angels,

thou hast crowned him with glory and honor,

putting everything in subjection under his feet.”

Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. As it is, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. But we see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for every one.
