Advent - The anticipation of christ for us

Advent is a time of anticipation. We pray and read Scripture patiently and expectantly  as we await the coming of Christ. Yes! the coming of the Messiah as the One sent from God, born in a manager. The One whom angels proclaimed as the Savior of the world. As our Savior.

And our own, deeply personal anticipation of the coming of Christ into our lives daily as he forgives our sin, strengthens our faith, renews our hope, and heals our sorrows.

And our anticipation for our neighbors and for our world -- the world Christ created to receive his hope, peace, joy, and love

During Advent our anticipation is marked by the lighting of candles on the Advent Wreath:
  • The first candle, also known as the Prophecy Candle, represents the hope of Christ's coming.
  • The second candle, also known as the Bethlehem Candle, represents the peace of Christ's birth.
  • The third candle, also known as the Shepherd's Candle, represents the joy of Christ's birth and the anticipation of his return.
  • The fourth candle represents love.

Advent at Hopeful

This year, Advent begins Sunday, December 1st and continues through Christmas Eve, December 24th.  Our Advent services will include our regular Sunday services and special Lessons & Carols services on Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM:
  • December 3th
  • December 10th
  • December 17th

If your family chooses to have it's own Advent Wreath, you may want to select readings from the Gospels of Matthew, Luke, and John.

Our Christmas Eve Services will be at 7pm, 9pm, and 11pm. All three Christmas Eve services will also be live streamed on our website, Facebook, and YouTube.

May Christ come to you in Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love this Advent season.
