what is confirmation?
In the introduction to the Small Catechism, Martin Luther described the purpose of the catechism as teaching and guiding the student “in what they should believe, do, refrain from, and know according to the Christian faith.” Luther’s Small Catechism is a summary of Scripture that provides everything that is necessary for the Christian to know for salvation.
This purpose for the Small Catechism gives us our purpose for Confirmation–to teach the faith so that faith may be strengthened and God may continue creating his church.
